NEWS RELEASE: BCCA Congratulates CCA Vice President David Haywood-Farmer

March 14, 2016 (Kamloops, B.C.) – BC Cattlemen’s Association congratulates B.C. rancher and BCCA Past President, David Haywood-Farmer, on becoming Vice President of the Canadian Cattlemen’s Association (CCA). Haywood-Farmer along with CCA President, Dan Darling, were elected by acclimation on March 12 at the CCA Annual General Meeting in Ottawa, ON.

“I am very honoured to be asked to take on the role of Vice President for the Canadian Cattlemen’s Association and I look forward to representing the interests of my fellow producers across Canada,” said Haywood-Farmer.

Haywood-Farmer has represented B.C. ranchers on the CCA Board of Directors since 2014 following his role as BCCA President from 2012-2014. Haywood-Farmer’s involvement in local, regional, provincial and national beef cattle associations spans over 30 years. Previously, he served in a number of capacities with the BCCA including Vice President, Chair of the Finance Committee, Chair of the Land Stewardship Committee and as a valued member of the BCCA Board of Directors. Since 2014, he has sat on the CCA Foreign Trade committee, the CCA Executive Committee and chaired the Domestic Agriculture committee in his position as a CCA Director.

“During his tenure as BCCA President, David demonstrated his strong leadership ability. We are very happy to see that the producers with the Canadian Cattlemen’s Association have recognized this and have chosen David to be part of the new leadership team,” said Kevin Boon, BCCA General Manager.

A third generation rancher, he operates Indian Gardens Ranch, a cow-calf operation, in Savona, B.C. in partnership with his cousin, Bob Haywood-Farmer and their families. David’s eldest son, Chris, and Bob’s son, Ted, both work full time on the ranch as well. David and his wife Bonnie, married 39 years this fall, have raised their three children (Chris, Stephen and Becky) on the ranch and are looking forward to many years sharing ranch life with their very active growing family of grandchildren.

Haywood-Farmer is the first B.C. representative to hold this position in almost two decades. Previously, John Morrison of Kamloops, B.C. was CCA Vice President from 1998-2000 and then CCA President from 2000-2002.
